New client for Lufthansa subsidiary

Stadtwerke München commissions LHIND with an IT solution for public transport

Lufthansa Industry Solutions has acquired a well-known new public transport customer in Stadtwerke München (SWM). LHIND is to develop and implement a new IT solution for the sales background system for the Munich transport company (MVG), a subsidiary of SWM.

Norderstedt, June 12, 2022 – Lufthansa Industry Solutions (LHIND) has acquired Stadtwerke München (SWM) as a new client as part of a European tender and has now been commissioned to introduce a new IT solution to complete the background sales system for the Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft [Munich Transport Company] (MVG). Every year, MVG transports several hundred million passengers by subway, bus, and streetcar in Munich and, in addition to selling tickets and its own rental bike system MVG Rad, offers sharing services.

“We are looking forward to working with Stadtwerke München and are very aware of the great responsibility we have toward the customer and the market,” says André Jacobs, Director of Mobility Transport at Lufthansa Industry Solutions. “This is another flagship project for LHIND and also reinforces our presence in southern Germany in particular.”

Focus on ticket sales and mobility services

The collaboration between the Lufthansa subsidiary and SWM has been arranged for seven years. During this period, the background sales system will be reorganized. The focus is primarily on subscriptions, free sales, and ticket sales to major customers. It will also improve mobility services such as MVG Rad and HandyParken München, as well as product and contract management.
“Over the next few years, we will replace our existing sales system with a sustainable and cost-effective platform. We are convinced of the performance of LHIND's Patris system and look forward to implementing it together,” says MVG's Head of Sales, Alexandra Diessner.

Patris enables transport companies to offer their passengers intuitive and efficient processes for planning, booking, and payment. In particular, the software solution bundles functions for tariffing, sales, billing, sub-accounting, subscription management, and customer communication under a uniform user interface. This gives local transportation companies an overall view of their customers, allowing them to address them with a multimodal range of products and show all processes in an audit-proof manner.
