Lufthansa Industry Solutions and Bechtle offer flexible IoT solution for medium-sized companies

Lufthansa Industry Solutions (LHIND) is now cooperating with the IT company Bechtle in the area of Device as a Service. The jointly developed offer ranges from the provision and management of hardware to the provision of data and complete lifecycle management. The flexible IoT solution helps medium-sized companies, for example, to take their logistics to the next level.

Norderstedt, May 11, 2023 - "In order to make applications in the IoT field comprehensively accessible to as many companies as possible, our offer includes, on the one hand, the provision of the hardware and, on the other hand, the flexibly deployable LEAP platform, which already contains many useful functions in its standard version," says Stefan Schweiger, Business Manager IoT Solutions at Bechtle. Medium-sized companies in particular should benefit from the scalability of the solution. As part of the cooperation, Bechtle will take care of the hardware and logistics, as well as other services such as financing, provision, configuration, support, and return, warranty processing, and disposal or reprocessing of the sensors.

LEAP platform provides access to location and condition data

Lufthansa Industry Solutions provides the LEAP platform. "LEAP stands for Localization Engine and Analytics Platform. Behind it is a cloud-based platform with an intuitive user interface. With LEAP, companies can permanently monitor any objects with the help of location- and sensor-based data," explains LHIND expert Holger Schlüter. The Lufthansa Technik subsidiary ensures rapid onboarding of customers through training and also takes over the lifecycle management of the corresponding hardware. This ranges from the integration of data collection devices to information about the service life of batteries and the term of mobile communications contracts. This provides seamless data collection.

Real-time tracking makes processes more transparent and efficient

As soon as an object reaches or leaves a predefined location - or exceeds or falls below predefined threshold values of the sensors - a notification is sent. This adds transparency and efficiency to processes. "With our joint Device as a Service offering, medium-sized companies gain access to solutions, data information, and even new business models that were previously reserved for corporations," summarizes Bechtle IoT Solution Manager Schweiger.
