Rainer Liebhart to lead the restructured "Air Cargo Logistics" Business Unit

Norderstedt, October 9, 2019 – Rainer Liebhart (44) is taking over leadership of the restructured “Air Cargo Logistics” Business Unit at Lufthansa Industry Solutions (LHIND) with immediate effect. Rainer Liebhart will succeed Dr. Peter Rothenberger, who is taking early retirement at the end of the year after almost 30 years of service in the Lufthansa Group. In his new function, Rainer Liebhart will report directly to Bernd Appel, Managing Director of Lufthansa Industry Solutions.

As part of the restructure, the “Air Cargo Logistics” Business Unit will be expanded to include the “Rail Projects” and “Rail Consulting” divisions. Bernd Appel: “Concentrating our transport logistics expertise for air and rail together in the Rhine-Main area will enable us to create even greater customer proximity. I am very pleased that Rainer Liebhart, a certified expert, is joining us to take on this challenging task.”

Rainer Liebhart previously worked as a software engineer and project manager for IT company Fiducia IT AG in Karlsruhe for seven years before joining LHIND in 2008. As a Key Account Manager and Development Manager, he led the GLOBE project for LHIND customer Hamburg Süd. In 2011, the business economist took over the management of the “Transport Logistics & Rail” division in the Logistics Business Unit. In the following years he took on the additional roles of the leadership of the "Customer Relationship Solutions" and "Switzerland" divisions in the Logistics Business Unit.
