Lünendonk List 2018: Digitalization, Cloud Computing and IT Security Drive Growth

The consulting and market research company Lünendonk has now published the new list of the top IT consulting and system integration companies in Germany. It ranks Lufthansa Industry Solutions among the 25 leading IT consulting firms in Germany.

Norderstedt, June 25, 2018 – Lufthansa Industry Solutions is one of the 25 leading IT consulting firms in Germany. This was announced today by the market research company Lünendonk. This the fourth time in a row that the IT service provider has taken a place in the prestigious Lünendonk List as an independent company of the Lufthansa Group.

The 68 IT consultancies analyzed in 2017 showed average growth of 14.6 percent compared to the previous year. Some of the primary drivers of growth in the IT service sector are digitalization, cloud computing and IT security. More particularly, the desire to automate processes has given a big boost to demand, according to 81 percent of the companies. Three-fourths of those surveyed indicated that their customers increasingly want to integrate digital solutions into their backend IT, and 70 percent see the interest in cloud solutions as a key driver of new business. IT and data security were also mentioned by 70 percent. By comparison, supposed trends like robotics and blockchain are distinctly underrepresented.

Two-thirds of those surveyed also expect strong growth impulses to come from the area of “digital customer experience/Web-based digital services”. Customers are hence primarily asking for process consulting (84 percent) and the development of apps, websites, platforms and other digital solutions (84 percent). There is also great interest being shown in data analysis (81 percent), frontend design (70 percent) and change management (61 percent).

The lack of qualified specialists is considered to be putting considerable constraints on growth. For instance, an average of 18.6 percent of the service providers were unable to fill their permanent positions, and fluctuation reached a rather high rate of nine percent. According to Lünendonk, this lack of skilled specialists is going to cause a relocation of projects to nearshore and offshore partners.

The Lünendonk List of the top 25 IT consulting and system integration companies is based on the firms’ domestic sales figures. Lünendonk, which for years has been publishing the rankings of the leading IT service providers on the German market, includes companies that generate at least 60 percent of their earning through IT consulting, individual software development and system integration.
