Norderstedt, January 2, 2018 – Starting immediately, Klaus Vollmer will be taking over the management of the “Maritime Solutions” division in the “Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul (MRO) and Hospitality” business unit at Lufthansa Industry Solutions. The industrial engineer has occupied various positions since joining the company in 1996.
Klaus Vollmer began as a Project Manager in Telecommunications before moving to Hospitality in 2004. Here he focused on roll out management in the cruise industry and developing and implementing guest service portals on ships. Since June 2016, Klaus Vollmer has been responsible for the technical aspects of all projects in this area. In his new function as Director, Klaus Vollmer will report directly to Oliver Albers, Vice President of MRO and Hospitality.
The Maritime Solutions division develops new platforms and integrated network infrastructure for the cruise industry. The IT solutions developed specifically for cruise ships range from converged infrastructure to location-based services up to cabin control systems. This involves combining WLAN, monitoring and controlling lighting, door locking and air conditioning systems (room automation), as well as safety equipment (CCTV) into a single network.
