Dietmar Focke, currently Chief Operations Officer at Lufthansa Cargo, will take over the position as Managing Director at Lufthansa Industry Solutions (LHIND) effective November 1, 2024. He succeeds Jörn Messner, who will become Head of the Innovation & Tech Factory at the Lufthansa Group.
Jörn Messner hands over management of Lufthansa Industry Solutions to Dietmar Focke
NNorderstedt, September 27, 2024 – “We are delighted that with the handover from Jörn Messner to Dietmar Focke, we can once again place the management of LHIND in the hands of an experienced leader from the Lufthansa Group and thus create a seamless transition in responsibility,” said Grazia Vittadini, who as a member of the Lufthansa Group Executive Board and Chief Technology Officer is also responsible for the Lufthansa subsidiary LHIND.

In his role as Chief Operations Officer at Lufthansa Cargo, Focke was responsible for Global Handling Management, Flight Operations, Security and most of Lufthansa Cargo's equity investments. The 51-year-old graduate engineer began his professional career in the Lufthansa Group in 2001 as an equipment product engineer at Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg, where he now lives again with his family after holding positions in China and Hungary.
He takes over from Jörn Messner a company that has grown from 2,100 to more than 2,500 employees under his leadership. The business administration graduate has consistently focused LHIND on customer centricity, sustainability and innovation. Messner also accelerated the transition to a modern working environment, leaving his successor with a company focused on agility and collaboration.
Lufthansa Industry Solutions is a service provider for IT consulting and system integration. This Lufthansa subsidiary helps its clients with the digital transformation of their companies. Its customer base includes companies both within and outside the Lufthansa Group, as well as more than 300 companies in various lines of business.
